I have been using the free version of Customizr, and used it to build a nice site to replace a friends’ old website. I built it on my own domain (where it worked perfectly), then as my friend has their site hosted on GoDaddy as a managed WordPress account, I used the migration process GoDaddy provides. Everything did transfer very well, and I was set to use Appearance >> Customize to configure the site exactly as it’s configured on my own domain.
To begin with, though Customizr did work very well from the beginning on my own domain, there was the issue of difficulty removing the demo slider, even when using the instructions provided by Press Customizr. Eventually, I was able to remove it.
Now fast forward to the new site. I can remove the slider, but only temporarily. The slider goes away, and I save the new settings. Then as soon as I attempt to change any other settings, the slider automatically reappears. This happens over and over and over again.
Not only that, but every single setting that I change in Customize does exactly the same thing. I wait for the desired changes to take place, save the settings, etc. I can even sign out of WordPress, and viewing the changes, the new settings are still in place, and the demo slider is back. Even the header logo disappears after having been successfully installed.
I’ve refreshed my browser cache over and over again, try different browsers, etc. I don’t use a cache plugin. I once did, but that was on my old domain – it caused problems, so I uninstalled it and problems disappeared. I did not reinstall the cache plugin on the new site.
I am using a Customizr child theme. I have not yet taken the step of disabling all plugins, but do plan to try that out today ( as I have time away from holiday preparations).
One thing I should mention is that all of the plugins which are active on this new site are also present and active on the old site, without any problems there at all.
I am using the latest versions of both WordPress and Customizr. If I continue to have good experiences building sites with Customizr, I’m likely to get Customizr Pro… but not yet, simply because I’m a web development student on a student’s budget, which I’m sure some will understand…
In the meantime, I’m posting some information I was requested to provide. (I can provide change log information also if that would be helpful) Here it is:
