 * Is it possible to have the video align to the left, with the text appearing on
   the right-hand side of it, rather than forcing the video to be on a line by itself?

 * use
    `class="alignleft" maxw=200` inside at shortcode, with maxw=200 you will
   set the max-width of video and with class=”alignleft” you will set the class 
   of wp to floating element on the left (this works only if your template support
   it)
