    Hi,

For tags and categories, you’ll need to use this add-on

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/crp-taxonomy/

    cool! thanks.

    You’re welcome.

That add-on does not solve the problem. It allows you to LIMIT the related posts only to the current categories, tags and/or custom post types.

But I don’t want to LIMIT, I want to BROADEN the related posts to Tags.
What can be done to achieve this? Currently it does not care if two posts have the same tags. The post won’t show up in the related posts list, even though they have the same tags.

Uncheck the FULLTEXT indexing option after you install the add-in and the plugin will only relate it to tags and no longer use the full text matching.

But I don’t want it to ONLY relate to tags. I want the plugin consider TAGS as well as TITLE. Even if two posts share one word in the title OR if there’s one Tag in common, I’d like the posts to be related. I don’t want to choose between Tags and Title. They are both important.

one same word in title shouldn’t do any good finding related posts. it is more troublesome than helpful. however it may depend on your way of blogging.

you can add related post IDs now (in the new Update) if you think two posts should definitely be related to each other, at the end of each post editor.

Something I rather suggest is to check for internal links in posts and choose them as related posts, no matter what. because everyone, for the sake of SEO, does this internal link related articles in his blogging. I as well use this “Read more HERE” thing a lot and i wish it was considered.

suppose i am reviewing a game and I would write “wow this game reminds me of A and B.” and I hyperlink them, but then because they are not in the same category or tags they are not shown in the related posts. One would say “you should have done a better job with the category and tagging system”, but they cant be in a same category nor tag. they just feel the same.

@taadike, as Findbmx mentioned, if you believe that a set of posts need to be included, you could add the post IDs in the manual related box.

Unfortunately, there is only so much that can be done when it comes to automatic relationships.

I’m constantly working on developing the filters, but there will always be limitations and since every site is built differently, there can never be a one-size-fits-all plugin version unfortunately.

A future (paid) add-on will allow more control over titles and text weighting, but tags cannot be relationship matched right now.

Is a there a way to display the category name for the related posts, and apply a category slug as a class name to the li tag of the post for styling purposes?
