I’m using qtranslate and also Alfie WP on my website.

At the moment, Weather info is only provided in English even an other language is selected on my site.

How can I get Alfie WP to automatically adpat the language selected via a flag?

Or is it possible to edit the .mo or .po files and add some more languages?

I read Alfie WP should be compatible with qtranslate.

    Any ideas?

    Kind rgds

    Hi,

Alfie WP Weather is only available in English, Spanish and Romanian. A .po file is provided inside /lang folder for the users who want to add their own translations. You can use Poedit for this, is free and does a very good job.

    Thank you.

I already tried to setup different language .po’s with the porpuse to show Alfie WP in the language selected via the flags in the header.

It seemed to stuck in only ONE set language.

How does the Plugin work? Does it:

    a) recognize the browser language
    b) recognize the language selected via qtransalte (if yes, how can I combine a specific .po with the language selection made with qtranslate?)
    c) recognize by IP of the user

    ???

Thanks for your support! I really appreciate an answer on that.

    Kind Regards!

    Hi there,

Alfie is using common WordPress functions in order to make its content translatable. It will look inside /lang folder for any translation file available and apply that translation according to the locale variable defined by the plugin used for translation. So, for both qTranslate and WPML, Alfie WP Weather will always show the translation, if available, based on the language selected by the user.

In order to make the content available for translation in a language not shipped with the plugin, you should open default.po with Poedit and save it with the right name ( i.e. for german you should save the file as alfie_wp_weather-de_DE.po ), make the necessary translations and hit save. When you do this, in the /lang directory will appear a file named alfie_wp_weather-de_DE.mo. That’s your german translation. So, following these steps should give you a localized version of the plugin.

Important: Make sure that in Poedit/Catalog/Properties/Language when editing alfie_wp_weather-de_DE.po you change the default en_US to de_DE and so on, according to the language you’re translating to.
