Alert from WordPress Firewall

  • We got the follow message in our inbox this morning. I have no idea what to make of it. Our password is very long and complex. Is this something that i should be worried about? Is it a viable email?

Thank you in advance for your help.

WordPress Firewall has detected and blocked a potential attack!

Offending IP: [ Get IP location ]

    Offending Parameter: event_id = -12 union select 0,1,2,user_pass from wp_users

This may be a “SQL Injection Attack.”

Click here for more information on this type of attack.

If you suspect this may be a false alarm because of something you recently did, try to confirm by repeating those actions. If so, whitelist it via the “whitelist this variable” link below. This will prevent future false alarms.

Click here to whitelist this variable.

  • I’ve had a spate of similar but have read elsewhere on the forums that to block an offending IP is overkill and not particularly effective (IPs are dynamic)

As the firewall blocks these attacks, should I be concerned?
