I have a customer with an efood style WooCommerce store. Is it possible to add an alert popup when a new order is placed? So he sees the new order without having to refresh the page?

The WooCommerce app, which is available for Android and iOS, will send instant order notifications to the installed device:

Otherwise, for a website-based solution, have a look at the WordPress.org plugin search results for “new order alert”:
