This is a SMALL thing, not a big problem, so if it’s not easy to do, don’t sweat it… I may be missing something, but here’s my problem.
I now have a few albums created – 19 at the moment, in three levels. I’m using the order# currently to keep the hierarchies together. For example, I have “Nature”, inside which is/will be “Wildlife”, “Birds”, “Butterflies”, “Insects”, “Landscapes”, “Flowers” and “Other”. Inside “Birds” I have “Water Birds”, “Backyard Birds”, “Shore Birds”, “Raptors” and “Other Birds”. I’ll most likely have other main albums with 4 levels below them, likely somewhere around 200 total albums that will grow as I add events.
I’ve tried both the flat table and the collapsible table and both work, but I’m wondering if it would be possible to make it easier to see the hierarchy. Perhaps something like the name of any album with NO parent could be a bold font so it’s easier to see where a hierarchy starts? And/or the names of all the children of an album could be indented? And/or a default sort (if no sort is specified) that would group the albums by hierarchy?
Some of this may already be in there and I just haven’t hit it, but I’m trying to find ways to make it easier to keep track of things I need to manage in some organized form.

Again, this isn’t a show stopper, more of a “nice to have”.

Also, is it possible to resize column widths and/or move columns around on the table of albums? I can grab the column headers but it doesn’t appear that I can move them or change the width of the columns to make more room for longer names or whatever…

    where a hierarchy starts?

It starts at the small black arrow.

children of an album could be indented?

It is indented every level up to 4 or 5 (?) in the collapsable table.
You can change the sort order in the table by clicking on the blue header texts, a second click flips the order. See the inital gray arrow down near the ID column.

Sorry, but i do not see your point.

I use the hierarchical collapsible view for just this reason. But I do find it would be helpful to have button up top to be able to “Expand All” within the hierarchical view. Sometimes you just want to see the whole tree at once.

Jacob if you can see my album hierarchy at the same link we’ve been working with in my previous emails, you’ll find I’ve currently got eight parallel album hierarchies representing different years. Each year represents a different cycle of the same thing, so each year has the same three child albums. With each new year, another parallel set of albums will be created. It is helpful to be able to (optionally) view this parallelism all at once without having to expand each one independently.

Just as the original poster indicated, I agree it would be a “nice to have” feature.

Just adding my thoughts to the original post….
    Thanks, Karen

I understand Jacob. As busyMom said, having easier visuals for navigation would be nice, but I can understand you not seeing my point. For me, the collapsible table is slow since I have to keep hitting little black arrows to open things, but it’s not a huge deal yet. Once I have a couple hundred albums I suspect it’ll be more of a problem, but if the other umpteen users that are using your tool haven’t run into this, it’s not a big deal.

SkyyKorat, could we move this back out of resolved? I’d like it to remain on the mental list of feature requests as I am running into this constantly and I only have a dozen or so albums! It’s not clear that Jacob has seen our updates since he asked for clarification yesterday because it might have already been moved to resolved when he woke up in the morning 😉

    Thanks, Karen

Can someone tell me how to move a topic from resolved back to not resolved? Never mind. Found the dropdown… It SHOULD be not resolved again…

Next to the ‘Switch to Flat table’ button there will be a ‘Open all’ button that changes into a ‘Close all’ button in the next version.
Already available in the current development version ( 6.4.06.004 )

    I can UNresolve a thread.

Thanks Jacob. I had a chance to install the development version yesterday and have been playing. This definitely makes it easier when you have more albums…
