    Hi
    I get this message on the site ; Your API key is no longer valid. Please enter a new key or contact support@akismet.com.
    I have had akismet for a long time on my blog without problem but recently seeing lots of spam comments when i checked this is the message. when i try to enter the key again nothing happens – the same message

    Hi @sarina1,

    All of our keys require a plan to work fully – even if that’s a free plan. Some keys have somehow escaped this requirement – we’re not really sure how. Because the latest update to the plugin fully refreshed the connection to our servers, it also highlighted the fact that your key doesn’t have a plan, even though you’ve had it for years.

    To clear that error, you can start here:

    http://akismet.com/plans

    And then log in with your email address.

    From there, you can add the appropriate plan to your account, the API key will then become active again, and you’ll be able to use it on the site with no errors.
