Akismet key hard coded in multisite not working (6 posts)

When specifying WPCOM_API_KEY in wp-config.php on a multisite install the site key no longer gets hidden on the akismet settings page.

This is the same topic posted a month ago. We are using the 3.6 version of WP multisite along with 2.5.9.

Has anyone run into this issue? There was also some mention of needing an Enterprise account for educational institutions now. Is the case, and if so, would that resolve the issue?

Thanks to anyone who can respond, so far I only got a snarky moderator unfortunately.

I have to do more testing, but at first glance I think that this problem has not been fixed in WordPress 3.6, whioh includes Akismet last version (2.5.9).

Thanks @Eduardo I went ahead and purchased an API key but the Akismet site had several problems and errors when trying to purchase. I'll also send them a support email directly now and follow back up here if I find anything out.

Support confirmed it as a bug and introduced in 2.5.8. They are working on a fix.

We are still having a problem with this. Anyone seen a fix?
