My account with my host got suspended today because at 12:05pm my site generated a high server load.
I didn’t have a large amount of traffic at the time and all I was doing online was moderating my comment spam.
It appears that the load occured at the same time as I pressed the “Delete all” button in Akismet to remove 201 comment spams.
After I hit the delete all button my site became unresponsive and threw up the “Unable to connect to database error”. Hitting F5 to refresh the page resulted in the “site suspended” page comming up which is currently displaying on http://blog.oflaherty.dk
As of this moment I only have ftp access to my site.
My host has not been very helpful as they say that cannot determine which script caused the load.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could this be the result of Akismet accessing the wp-comments table?
As a point of interest, I opened up phpmyadmin once I started to suspect Akismet and the wp-comments table was taking up 9.9 MB of space for 1301 comments. This dropped down to 821 KB.
Anyhelp / advice would be appreciated.
