Ajax Add to Cart on Single Product Pages?

It’s pretty jarring that adding a product to the cart from its respective product page refreshes the page, while all other instances of adding products to the cart add via ajax, instead of refreshing the page.

Since I’m hesitant to modify core JS files, and there don’t seem to be any plugins to achieve ‘ajaxified’ product page add-to-cart buttons’, I’m wondering if there are any plans to implement this in a future release.
