Support » Plugin: All In One WP Security & Firewall » AIOWPS with Perishable Press 7G firewall

  • Resolved Henk Barreveld

I have been using the AIOWPS plugin for many years and I like it a lot, compared with other no-cost solutions.

However, I am one of these people who are using AIOWPS on a site where I also use basic authentication, which is in conflict with the 6G firewall settings. Therefore, instead of just enabling the 6G firewall I copy the 6G firewall code from Jeff Star’s website in the AIOWPS Custom Rules, and comment out the conflicting “Require all Granted”. That works – as long as I do not use the AIOWPS blacklist, which has the same conflict.

I noticed that Jeff’s new (now “Out of Beta”) 7G fireweall does not have this conflict with basic authentication. So I replaced the 6G code in the Custom Rules by the 7G code (v1.2 20190727) and that seems to be working. However, the 7G firewall contains more settings than the 6G firewall, so I wonder if it contains any duplication with other AIOWPS settings that should be avoided.

What is your expert opinion about this?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi, thank you for getting in contact with us. Unfortunately I have not done any testing with version 7G beta. I am sure that once the full version is released and not in beta mode the developers will investigate further and probably add it to our plugin.

    Kind regards

You write “once the full version is released…”. Please be aware, this is what the post on says:

The 7G Firewall was released about a year ago as beta, and has had time now to mature/develop into a stable release. So this is just a heads up that 7G is now officially out of beta and ready for use in live/production environments.

Hi, just letting you know that the developers will be adding 7G in the future.

    Thank you

I am also trying to pin down conflicts with 7G Firewall … I am experiencing issues where periodically visitors are getting 403 forbidden. I’m writing so I can easily follow this thread.
