AIM link in Links Manager

  • I have a link “http://aim:goim?screenname=jsr4tux&message=From+Buzzing+Buy” in the URI field of one of my linkes. When processed, it turns into this “http://aim/?screenname=jsr4tux&message=From+Buzzing+Buy”

Notice how the ‘:goim’ changes to just a ‘/’. Is there a way to get around this?

  • Use the hex/url-encoded form for the colon (: -> %3A) in your link:

You may also want to encode the & at the same time (%26, or use the character entity &), since it’s not considered valid XHTML.

Doh, of course. 🙂 Thank you for your help.

I’m also having a problem adding a AIM messenger link via the Links Manager. The link should be “aim:goim?screenname=xxxxx” but, the Links Manager prepends “http://” and invalidates the link.

Is there a way to get the Links Manager to pass the entry as is?
