Please post your debug log by turning on debugging, and pasting the output displayed at the bottom of the EWWW IO settings. I’ll take a look and see what is going on with webp. Seg faults are a bit odd, but you may need to just turn off webp if it is causing issues.
Regarding server resources, if you are running a bulk operation, or turned on scheduled optimization, it could very easily do that. You may need to set a delay on the settings page, or switch to using cloud optimization if that doesn’t help enough.

Hi Jan, I’ll put what I was requested on pastebin, thanks for the link. I’d edit or delete the posts but it seems that WordPress.org doesn’t let you do that.
