Enabling this plugin on my site adds 1380ms to page load times and causes a warning from core web vitals.

These suggestions can help your page load faster.

    URL Transfer Size Potential Savings
    /afterpay-1.x.js(js.afterpay.com) 58.0 KiB 1,380 ms

I would appreciate Afterpay providing a fix for this to avoid my site being penalised!

    Hi @galapogos01,

    Thanks for your message.

The team are investigating the performance concerns raised and will look to provide a backwards compatible improvement in an upcoming release.

    Thank you.

    Any update on this?

    Hi @galapogos01,

    Thanks for following this up.

The team have been working on this and have reduced the number of pages that the assets will be loaded on. This will be released in the coming weeks.

Please note that tools like Core Web Vitals may be using code coverage as a metric. While all features of the JavaScript library (afterpay-1.x.js) are not currently used, more will be used in an upcoming update.

    Thank you.

I don’t care about the code coverage metric, but I do care about the 1.3 second hit to page load time that is incurred with this plugin.

I hope you can ask the devs to address the performance of the library itself, as it’s loaded on all product pages — and I doubt you can not load it from them!

    Thanks,
    Jason
