I set a Facebook share image in the SEO > Social settings and then also set one specifically on the pages but none of them are showing the image up. I did not set anything else (as I have done in the past) but still no FB share image.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey Phillip,

was it a subpage of the site you linked? Or the homepage? Because that doesn’t seem to have an OG image being output in the source. Are you sure one is set?

@joostdevalk – thanks for the reply. Yeah, it not showing in the source is the problem I saw as well.

This happens on the homepage and subpages. I have the Facebook image set in the overall SEO > Social settings as well as on each of the homepage and subpages.

I do have some custom post types on the site and they are picking up the single local image from each of those pages into the og:image properly.

    Example: https://bneramona.com/member/k2-auto-detailing/

Is there somewhere I can email screenshots of the other setup or something in order to troubleshoot further?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You can share screenshots here in the forums. You can use a tool like: https://pasteboard.co/ to share the image.

With that in mind, we would like some more information.

    A. Are all your non-Yoast plugins and themes (like Divi) also updated?

    B. If you go to Settings-Reading what is your homepage displaying? The Latest Posts or a static page?

    C. Can you confirm the images you are setting meets Facebooks sharing standards? This guide explains more: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices#images

@pcosta88 the “C” piece stood out to me and is probably my issue. I realized that the image in question was a bit too small for Facebook standards and if there is something in Yoast SEO that caused that to not be populated into the og:image property because it was too small – I understand.

But…if that is the reason is it not showing up in og:image, can I request that Yoast SEO adds a notification that the image is too small – and warns you that it will not be populated into the page.

Thanks for helping me work through this.

As you saw, Yoast SEO will not output images that do not meet Facebook’s guidelines. A feature request is currently open for a warning when the image doesn’t meet the guidelines. If you would like to follow the progress of the request, you can do that here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/11565

Feature requests are investigated in GitHub so this topic was closed in favor of the open feature request. Please leave a comment or subscribe to the GitHub report to get updates on the request.
