I am stumped. My blog was working fine until I updated to the new WordPress. Now it shows up blank in both Chrome and Firefox but appears normal in Safari.

    Website:
    http://adrianthompson.com

    Plugins:
    Audio player
    Custom sidebars
    Disqus Comment System
    Duplicate Post
Google Adsense for Responsive Design – GARD
    Google XML Sitemaps
    Instagram for WordPress
    MailChimp
    SEO Ultimate
    Simple Share Buttons Adder
    Social Web Links

    Any ideas?

I am using a child theme to TwentyEleven.

Could something have been changed in the update?

Try disabling all plugins. It could be that one of them is throwing an error.

All plugins are off now, still showing up blank.

    Same for you?

Yes, still blank for me too. Try changing your theme back to TwentyEleven instead of your child theme.

    Done, still blank. Hmmm…

I know it’s not my hosting because I have another site online from the same Root.

There must be an error being thrown that we can’t see because debugging is disabled.

Try downloading WordPress 3.6 and uploading it to your site except wp-content.

Ah hah! The problem was the DEACTIVATED WP Super Cache.

    That’s strange… should I report that somewhere?

No, I can tell you exactly what the problem was. WP Super Cache got deactivated, but it must not have been done so using the admin panel. Caching plugins use files for configuration that get stored in /wp-content/ such as advanced-cache.php. They also set a variable in wp-config.php to enable caching. If the plugin is inactive but those files are present, it will throw an error. It’s not a bug, everything was working as it’s supposed to.

Here’s the catch: if debugging is disabled in wp-config.php, those errors won’t be shown so you’ll get a blank page.

In the future when you’re migrating a site, be sure to disable all plugins before starting the migration.

Got it. Thanks for your insight and patience!

No problem, glad we got it fixed!
