Hi – I had changed the search button wording from “change category” to “search” in the

    another-wordpress-classifieds-plugin/frontend/ad-functions.php (inactive)

    file in line 85 from the bottom ( $output .= “<input type=\”hidden\” name=\”a\” value=\”browsecat\” /> <input class=\”button\” type=\”submit\” value=\””; $output .= __(“Search”,”AWPCP”);).

When I went there to change it after the last update I can not find the string of code.

Would you please let me know where it has been relocated?

    Thank you.

    Hi Momshof,

Sorry that you ran into issues here!

We never recommend that you directly modify the plugin files if you want change the strings inside. When you update the plugin, those changes will always be lost.

Instead, we recommend using a translation file which can be placed in a directory that isn’t affected by updates. Please see this article here on how to activate and use such a file for that purpose: http://awpcp.com/quick-start-guide/#qs-translate

Please let me know if you have any other questions or issues!

Hi – Thank you for responding. I normally copy the file to my child theme and change it there, but I have issues whenever I do that with an awpcp file. This is the only change I make & it is easier for me to just change it in the original since awpcp does not have alot of updates. Would you please let me know which file this item is located in?

    Thank you.

    Hi Momshof,

Using the translation file isn’t dependent on your child theme directory–you can copy that file to other locations and still keep it around between releases.

Again, I’d recommend reading that article above as we’ve updated it recently with some NEW information about other locations you can put it (one is under the plugins directory itself, which never gets deleted). It’s a way better solution that trying to find the file itself.
