    Running WordPress 5.4.2.
Just updated to Yoast free 14.7
Long time user of Yoast, never encountered any problems before this.
When creating a new page or editing an existing page, the SEO area that includes the area for the Focus Keyphrase, the SEO Title, The Metadata, edit snippet, etc., it all disappears after about 2 seconds.
Is there a way to revert back to the previous Yoast version that was working flawlessly?
I have not added any plug-in’s or updated any other plug-in’s. The only change was the Yoast update.
    Thanks in advance for suggestions.

@slicegill If you have already confirmed that both Yoast SEO and WordPress are up to date and the issue with the metabox appearing as blank is still occurring, we would next recommend performing a conflict check to determine whether another plugin or theme is interfering with the Yoast plugin.

The fastest way to do this is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Nineteen. Test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin allows you to run a conflict check without affecting normal visitors to your site.As we can imagine that you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts.

As for reverting to the previous version, if you wish to do so you can by performing the following steps:

      • Visit https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/advanced/
      • Click on the ‘Advanced View‘ option (this is beneath the plugin version information near the bottom)
      • Under ‘Previous Version‘ select the version
      • Click the ‘Download‘ button.

Once you have downloaded the version of the plugin you wish to revert to, you can then install it by performing a manual install/update to the plugin. We have instructions on how to install/update the plugin manually at the following link: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-can-i-update-my-free-plugin/#ftp. You will need an FTP program such as FileZilla and your FTP details, which can be obtained from your host provider.

Thank you for the specific information @devnihil
It is too bad that the only thing different is my update to the latest Yoast update and now it doesn’t function properly.

Seems like a lot of steps to take to undo the problem, but maybe because this isn’t something that I have to do typically.

Rather than all the steps, would it be beneficial if I simply delete the Yoast plug-in and then start again with it?

I have thought to do that but I was worried it would hurt all of my current pages (over 1,000) that incorporate Yoast. But then I thought I read somewhere that Yoast would keep my files so nothing would be lost upon deletion.

    Thanks.

@slicegill Whereas we understand that the issue only started after updating the Yoast SEO plugin, it can still be caused due to a plugin conflict because of how the way existing plugins/themes might interact with the new features added in the 14.7 release of the plugin.

If you do want to remove and completely reinstall the plugin, it won’t cause you to lose any of the settings or data/optimizations you created with the Yoast SEO plugin. That information is stored in your WordPress database, so is separate and independent of the plugin’s files that are located in /wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seo/. However, removing and reinstalling the plugin would only correct an issue with the plugin that was caused by some of the files in the plugin somehow being incomplete or damaged during the recent update. Based on what you described, we don’t suspect that is the cause though. Typically when that occurs, you would receive an actual PHP error referencing that a class could not be found, or a ‘failed to open stream’ error message for example. Regardless, if you want to try a reinstall of the plugin just in case, it won’t cause any type of data loss on your site.

Same problem here after update, hope its getting fixed soon!

I also changend nothing on my site, only updated the seo yoast plugin. Since that, its not functioning correctly anymore!

PS: after downgrading to the old version, its functioning. So i cant recommend to someone to update it at moment. The new version is buggy!!!!
