• After updating WordPress to 4.2.2, it seems that some of the pages that have been edited within the last 3 months have completely reverted to their original, often taking our pages back to edits from 2011. The two new pages that have been added to the website have been completely deleted. That said, there are about 30 pages that had no changes whatsoever. Should I try and restore a backup from before the update? Or will that cause more issues with the site? Will I have to reinstall the update, if I do restore?

I would try that, yes. There is no real other way that you could get the content back in less you restore a backup.

It shouldn’t cause any issues on your site.

Will I have to reinstall the update, if I do restore?

Yes, you will. If you restore your website from the backup it will put your website back to what it was when the backup was made.

Once you restore the backup if you want to try and update to 4.2.2 again I would try deactivating all of you plugins and switching to the default Twenty Fifteen WordPress theme.
