Support » Plugin: BuddyPress Docs » after update: editing makes docs public and removes assziation with forum

I just got webmaster for a website which uses buddypress for a year.
After updating everything (wordpress and all plugins) there is a problem.
If a user (every role) edits an existing doc, it gets public and is not more assoziated with the forum any more.

    The setup:
    Wordpress 3.8

    BP Group Hierarchy
    BP Group Hierarchy
    BuddyPress Docs
    BuddyPress Group Email Subscription
    BuddyPress Mandatory Groups
    Cimy User Extra Fields 2.5.1
    Easy FancyBox
    Events Manager
    Events Manager Pro 2.3.5
    Invite Anyone
    Limit Login Attempts
    OSM 2.4.1
    Privates BuddyPress
    Secure HTML5 Video Player
    U BuddyPress Forum Attachment
    U BuddyPress Forum Editor
    Widget: Kategorieartikel
    WP Better Emails
    WP PHP widget

Every Plugin is the newest except the ones with the version number.
    Can you help me?

  • I just ran into the same problem. Admin created new doc and associated it with private group, then logged-in as a member, edited the document and it went from ‘limited’ access to ‘public’.
WP 3.8.1, BP 1.92, bbPress 2.5.3, BP Auto Group Join 2.2.1, BP Docs 1.5.6

    Me the same has happened.
I created a document in a private group. A user edited the document has been saved and changed the permissions to public automatically.

    WP 3.8.1
    BP 1.9.2
Private Community For BP Lite 4.0
    BuddyPress Docs 1.5.6

    A couple notes/questions:

    – Associating a Doc with a private group does not automatically make the Doc private as well. When you select a private group from the Associated Group list, Docs will auto-suggest private settings, but these can then be changed.

    – Is this always happening with different users – ie, one user creating the Doc, and the other one modifying it?

    – Can you share the setting “Minimum role to associate Docs with this group”, found at the group Admin > Docs? Does the editing user meet this minimum requirement?

I think I found the source of the confusion. It appears that when I created my first test document for the group, I think I had simply associated an existing document with the group and I didn’t see all the “Access” setting at the bottom of the page. I ended up with the defaults. Even when I had selected a private group, the defaults were:

This Doc can be read by: Anyone
This Doc can be edited by: Logged-in Users
    Comments are visible to: Anyone
Comments can be posted by: Anyone
History can be viewed by: Anyone

Is there somewhere to set the defaults?
When I created a document using the BP Docs editor I was able to set the access privileges properly. However, I noted that if I am not a member of the associated group, when I try to go to the URL for the document I am redirected to the home page of the site. Is there a way to have it redirect to the login page the way it does when a non-member attempts to go to a group page?
