After reinstalling WordPress (2.7) I’m stuck with errors and blank pages?!
-
Um, I’m so loathed to appear like I’m completely useless…
But, I’m new to WordPress; so I did a trial run with it a couple of months ago, and then, when I thought I’d got the hang of it (which I did), I deleted it (with Fetch) from my site, so that I could start afresh.
Since doing a fresh install though, I can’t get it working at all!
When I click the link my hosting company sent me
I get this message:
WordPress – Already Installed
You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first. And there’s no way of getting into the fresh WordPress – the initial page is entirely blank, and the dashboard/admin link tells me: The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.
(I was expecting access to a new admin page at least?!, but it appears to show traces of my previous test attempt (DW written in top corner):
I’ve configured the wp-config.php file with the correct database info, yet, any attempt I make to get in through a back door just errors
Do my database tables need clearing (i.e. do I need to get my hosting company to do something?) – or is it my WordPress installation that’s glitchy?
I’ve combed the WordPress forums, but they’re all a bit technically confusing…
