Support » Fixing WordPress » After installing bbPress, can't get in

  • Simply uploaded the bbPress folder, and got “Fatal Error… message”
Deleted the bbPress plug-in folder and now getting:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/aconbury/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-list-table.php on line 866

Everything happy before that, how do I get back into wp-admin please?
(assuming there is a general answer if installing a plug-in screws up the system)

  • Yes, general answer is to use FTP to access your site files and delete or rename that plugin.

That’s good, but having done that, and being locked out with Fatal error, how do I get back in?

I’ll try deleting it yet again, and then assume uploading bbPress is a problem.

Success – last time I was locked out, this time I can at least get back in – excellent.
Now try uploading bbPress for a third time.

    Yet again, after uploading:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/aconbury/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-list-table.php on line 304

Note error is on a different line this time! I have asked on bbPress forum also incase it is a known specific error with their plug-in.

    Any ideas?

If it’s a memory error, you probably need to increase the memory available for PHP on your site – see:

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

    Where is your site hosted?

You can go to http://www.yourwebsite.com/cpanel and login, and then open the home directory and go to plugins and delete bbpress.

Thank you – unaware that they had restricted the memory.
Sorted and now a happy bunny!
