    Hello,

After i import all my posts from the XML file, the post attachments and data shows perfectly and the thumbnail images of each post are also downloaded to my server.

However, the import tool is not linking the thumbnails to the posts, so i cant see the thumbnails when listing the posts or when editing their data. They were perfectly associated before export in the other server.

What happened and how can i import posts preserving the thumbnail-to-post association?

If i cant associate them, I would have to manually re-add the thumbnails on each post, which is not feasible because the blog is huge.

    Is there any way?

    Thanks!

Try setting your permalinks to the default, then back to wherever they were set to.

    the original website: http://agenciacrie.com.br/blog/
when i exported and imported in the new website, the thumbnails are gone (disassociated).

Sorry but my antivirus is warning me not to go to your new site.

When I import a database to set up a new site the permalinks typically need to be reset, which is what I asked you to do.

Other than that I’m sorry but I won’t be able to help you.

    how do i reset them?

The way I have done it is to change my permalink settings to the default then save the settings.

After the settings are saved I select the one I had previously and then save it again.

If that does not work then you have a different problem.

    Yeah, did not work.
But thanks for the help and attention.

I called up your new site on a different computer.

Do you have all the media files uploaded as they were in the old site?

The database stores links to your media files. You still need to have all the media files loaded in the exact format and directories they were on your old site

Yes, all files and folders are the same, its just that when i open a post to edit, the thumbnail is not there, thus not showing in the home page as well.

So the question is: is it normal to remove post thumbnails after import? if not what step of import am i doing wrong?

    kevinhaig

    (@kevinhaig)

The link to the thumbnail is not correct, so it is showing the alternate text.

    Old site link example…. http://agenciacrie.com.br/blog/2012/11/30/a-beleza-das-arenas-olimpicas-de-londres/

    New site link example ….http://50.97.101.7/~agenc596/blog/?page_id=2

Go back to the day and name permalink setting and see if that works.

I think I see what you are saying now. When I did my import I did not have any problems with the thumbnails.

Sorry I’m not helping you. Perhaps someone else can read this and help you out.
