    Hello,

First off, thanks so much for the free support!
I hate to sound moronic, but every time I install
a tar.gz or zip I get lost quickly. I have extracted the files to c:/wordpress, and created the wp-config.php file within this directory using the template provided. I don’t know where to go from here, and am simply trying to post something at the tribrown.org website, and right now I have the option to save and continue editing, and to save but not to publish anything. I would like to finish the installation, be able to publish, etc. I really appreciate your time and effort, I realize how much work this is, and it is a testament to your dedication that you offer help to whoever needs.

Are you logged in as admin? Is there a button marked Publish where you write your post? Do you get any error messages?

It sounds like your logged in with credentials that might not allow publishing…

I am logged in as myself, I created a user account, and there is no publish button. How could I log in as admin? I thought it was an open source, and also how do I finish the download? Thanks!

I must have jumped the gun.

Issue 1) Are we talking about a working site (that you can visit at tribrown.org)? What tar.gz or .zip (are you trying to upgrade WP)?

Issue 2) When WP first installed, it created an admin (a ‘root’ or ‘superuser’). Are you the admin (or can you log in as admin)?
