Support » Plugin: WooCommerce Square » after adjusting cost in woo, hit capture, full total before adjustment cost, hel

Hi, My client refunded the shipping costs in the woo backend, showed the correct total when she went to capture the order to complete at square. The original cost ended up showing at square, tho the correct adjusted total shows at woo. Why? and thank you for any understanding you can provide.

Hey again. I did did a complete update, went thru and ordered, went to back end of woo and deleted an item, adjusted shipping accordingly, hit save, updated order page, then went to capture. It shows the adjusted amounts at backend of woo, shows pre-adjusted costs in square. Can someone let me know why this is happening? I can’t be spending all of this time for something that is not going to work, this is now close to 3 hours without pay… thank you

As explained in the documentation here, the authorization amount has to match the captured amount. Square does not allow partial captures.

I hope that clarifies the issue.

then this will create customer confusion, as a completed order email from woo may end up as a different total then what is the ultimate order ends up being if price adjusted in square. If adjusted in square it won’t show once order is marked completed within site/woo. has this been brought up with square? Thank you for responding, I appreciate it. Has this never been an issue before? I’m kinda surprised!

In this case, Authorization simply just holds onto the payment and it is almost always used for when something needs to be confirmed (such as a booking, or a backordered shipment). Capture is the best option to use.

If adjusted in square it won’t show once order is marked completed within site/woo. has this been brought up with square?

It has, and they have yet to change the stance or code it differently. It is something on their API and not in WooCommerce’s plugin, so it would have to be something they fix – it is not something we can code in the plugin ourselves.

Thanks Mike, I actually had a convo with a square rep today… granted I asked for an email verifying the case number and phone call… did’nt get it :), kind of doubt my request will go anywhere. Then started reading more into the links you gave and, yes, I realize that it is at the square side… Sigh, looks like the only clean way, as far as not confusing the customer is, if a change to order needs to be made, is to cancel, and recharge accordingly. Any other ideas? Thanks again!

    Thank you for your understanding.

That sounds like the best approach at the moment. There isn’t an alternative we’re aware of.
