    Hello.

I have a WordPress blog that had on average 250 users on GA4 (per day) and for comparison 225 clicks on search console.

2 months ago, I decided to change the theme, but I forgot to reinstall the tracking code… The previous theme had a field for the Measurement ID.

As a result, GA4 dropped to 0, but search console kept steady.
I discovered it after 1 month.

For the new theme, I installed the Header Footer Code Manager and copy/pasted the Google Analytics 4 tag (gtag.js) code.

Since then, the GA4 shows on average 100 users, but the search console clicks increased to 320 almost +50%.

    Are the HFCM settings correct?
Shouldn’t I have an increase in GA4 users, since there is a growth in the search console results?

I appreciate any tips or links.

    Thanks.

Hi @andval – Your HFCM settings seem fine.

Google Analytics and Search Console have very different methods of measuring and attributing a visit.

Search console’s performance metrics are based on what happens on the search results, it’s measuring impressions on that, and clicks on your site’s listing.

Analytics measures users on the site and can attribute visits to how the user last came to the site. So someone could arrive at your site from a Google search, then come directly back later, and analytics would count them as organic users.

    Thanks for the reply.

Sadly, I cannot find something helpful.
