Support » Plugin: Content Control - User Access Restriction Plugin » After a Week – So far, So good!

  • I have pages on my LIDA.dev site that I wanted to be accessible only by logged-in users of a specific (added) role. I added the CONTENT CONTROL plugin for this purpose, and so far, it seems to be working just fine. Ask me again in a year and we will know more then.

I had to add a different plugin to control visibility of menu items by user role, which was inconvenient. It would have been better to have all that in this one plugin.

So, @danieliser and @calumallison, if you’re looking for your next upgrade to Content Control, that’s my suggestion.

  • Same here, David
You got point with the menu control

Let’s see how @danieliser and @calumallison move on.

I am using CONTENT CONTROL to ensure no one but appropriate role logged in users can see certain content. But it is frustrating to non-logged-in or incorrect-role users to see a menu item and click it, only to see “This content is restricted.”

For one thing, it is better design to simply make those menu items NOT appear except to people with the appropriate role.

For another, there are always hackers “out there” trying to break into sites, and if they see a menu item that leads to restricted content, some of those black hats might see it as a challenge to try to find out what it is.

Therefore, I use the USER ROLE EDITOR plugin to make sure those selected menu items don’t appear except to the appropriate logins.
