• Wordpress has been installed and running fine for some time.

    This evening, I:
    – updated to 4.7
    – updated the network
    – updated plugins Jetpack, and Photo Gallery
    – installed Constant Contact Forms
Everything to this point appeared to be going okay.

I then clicked Network Install (or what ever the button says on plugin install after installation completes). I got this error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_get_current_user() in /home/johnst12/public_html/blog/wp-includes/capabilities.php on line 522

I now see that error if I try to select any items from the Network menu or if I click “View Details” from any plug-in on my Blog’s installed plug-ins pave. The blog itself appears to be okay, and I can look at the admin dashboard of the two sites on the network.

It appears most likely there was an error when updating 4.7 with the network???

    – Try MANUALLY re-updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!
