Afraid of Losing the Blog – asked to delete database tables?

  • Hi there…I have tried to upgrade a blog to the current iteration of WordPress, and now that I have, it seems I have lost everything. I have not deleted the database tables, as it suggests I need to do, because I don’t want to lose everything I’ve been writing for the past two years.

When I run the upgrade.php, the program says that my database is upgraded. Then it dumps me to a 404 page. Something’s not right, and I need some help.

  • For me, the redirect after using upgrade.php on WP 2.6 — was a bad redirect. The URL was bad, so it was a 404.

But then I just typed in a working URL, and bingo, everything was good.

I’ve heard there’s a trick of going to your =logout URL, if necessary, then Login again.

On another point— hopefully you did Backup your database before upgrading. If you did get a backup, then you don’t have to worry so much about losing your data.

I haven’t seen the instruction about deleting tables, so I don’t know about that.

Who told you to delete your tables?!? That’s certainly not part of an upgrade.
