    Hello,

just checked the settings of WP Appbox. I of course filled in my affiliate-IDs and unchecked the option that your ID should be used (of ccourse).

Why is my ID gone and the box checked again? Wasn´t there such a problem many months ago already?

Those options should never ever be overwritten through updates or other ways. This means money… income… and those options are relevant.

So please prevent such scenarios in future versions of this plugin. If someone uses his own affiliate IDs and want to use them – he should be able to and does not have to check these options again and again just for you to make more money.

    Thanks

Did you activate or deactivate the plugin in the meanwhile? The error should really be fixed…

I can not find anything wrong. I’ve tested it on my blogs and asked other users. Everything as it should be, even after updating the settings remain.

I did nothing. I have even not updates to your latest version, yet. The setting just jumped back to it’s defaults. How about changing the option to a non-checked optionbox of “Use the developers UD”? So that it will never ever happen accidently that someone looses his affiliate-money to you? That would be a good and fair step forwards.

The error is fixed about four months ago – and I can only repeat myself: nobody I asked has this fault, all saved IDs and options are there. If the ID changed – all other options would also have been reset. Paste your ID, disable the checkbox, save the options and update to the current version – you’ll see: all options are there.

I have no interest, secretly switch the settings. What would bring me there? The revenues are so low – because it’s worth more to deliver good work and hope for donations. 😉

That is true. But how about my request to change the defaults to unchecked boxes to let the users decide if they want to use your ID? Better than having those checkboxes checked by default. So IF this error occours (like in my case) there will not your ID be used.

    Done. 😉

Hello, just for information: Once I deactivate and activate the plugin again: All settings are lost. I have to deactivate all Editor-Buttons again and my affiliate-ID is gone…

That’s, what I asked you. 😉 I’m rewriting the update method, so with next update all settings are saved. Even though I do not know if you should not remove any data from the database even when disabling the plugin…

Disabling the plugin should never ever erase all data. It is often necessary to disable plugins for example for debugging reasons. When DELETING a plugin it is sensefull to delete all database data… but not when just deactivating it. My opinion and that is also the way other plugins work that I use.

Nice to hear that an update is in development for this 🙂 *thumbs up*

1.7.12 is up. You could try what you want – settings should be saved, instead of deleting/uninstall a plugin.
