Support » Plugin: Content Aware Sidebars - Unlimited Widget Areas » Affecting backend Widgets area for the worse

  • Resolved Starhorsepax2

I was trying to figure out why the Available Widgets area in the Admin Dashboard was suddenly in a drop down when I went to that page. It made it difficult to use and read to add widgets in other areas like header and footer. So I did the old tried and true method and tried one at a time disabling plugins.

The problem seems to be triggered by Content Aware Sidebars. I thought this was only supposed to affect the front end? How do I make it stop affecting the Dashboard area? I don’t see any global settings that I can touch and its not a front end sidebar issue.

    Thank you for reporting this.

Content Aware Sidebars modifies the widgets screen with an Enhanced Widget Manager, which should make it much easier to manage sidebars and widgets (especially if you have a lot)

I suspect there might be a conflict since it doesn’t help you. Can you show me a screenshot of what the page looks like?

I’m not sure how to post a screenshot here?

I can tell you that the scroll bar prevents me dragging widgets to the ‘unused’ area if I want to test for conflicts but not delete them.

    Here is image.

Apologies for the delayed response here, and thank you for the screenshot.

To the right of “Available Widgets” you can minimize the widget container, which will reveal inactive sidebars and unused widgets. I agree that this might not be the best user experience and I welcome all feedback for how to make it more clear.

For now, there is no way to disable the enhanced widget manager out of the box, but I can see how it would be useful when there are conflicts.
