My site has been functioning since 2013. I have not allowed comments up to now, as I wasn’t sure how it worked, how I’d manage it, and if it wouldn’t just be trolls and meanies. Now I’m beginning to think maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea, so I looked over your forum on ‘removing comments’ and I’m freaked! Sounds like you can get overwhelmed! Am I opening up a can of worms here?
Is it possible to set comments so that they have to get administrator approval? Is that useful? Can it be done for each blog post, or just pages?

I use the plugin “antispam bee” to help manage all the comment stuff. It’s pretty good about filtering spam and cleaning up behind itself. You can require approval, too, under SETTINGS->DISCUSSION on the dashboard.
