  • Hi,

I want to have my plugin add an extra query var to author archive URLs, like so:

    with permalinks turned off.

This is so I can display a custom archive of posts by the original author (the actual, reassigned author is ignored).

That all works fine, but I’d like to be able to rewrite permalinks such that the link takes this form:

I don’t know where to start to do this though, unfortunately. I’m also not sure if doing this would potentially break something else.

    Anyone any thoughts?

  • it ist not possible to rewrite

    The var actual-author is missing

Or did I get it wrong?

    Hi in Aachen,

thanks very much for getting back to me. I think I’m confusing myself here, actually.

What I think I want is a new kind of post archive, with a URL that looks like:
    with Permalinks off/on.

I don’t need these archives to be displayed in any special way, just with the standard archive page. I initially wanted the posts to be displayed as an Author archive (hence my query above), but since the posts are ones originally written by deleted users, I realised that this might break some themes which are setup to display information about an author at the top of their archive page, since this information would not be available.
