Advice moving to wordpress,org

  • I am considering moving my blog from wordpress.com to wordpress.org. I have a few questions I could do with clearing up before hand though, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

I currently have the domain mapping upgrade on my wordpress.com site. The address that it points to is a subdomain on my main website. If I make the switch to a self-hosted wordpress.org account, do I just need to inform my registrar of a change to the DNS settings so that the custom domain remains the same? If so will this affect PageRank at all? In theory the incoming links should remain as I will still be using the same domain?

  • All you will need to do is change the name servers at registrar to point your new host from wordpress.com and No It does not effect your page ranking as all you doing is changing the location and not changing the domain name.

    Thank you
