Website has lots of post categories setup for future posts. Many catageories are empty and noticing Google is indexing them which I don’t want.

If I choose AIOSEO > Search Appearance >Taxonomies > Categories > Show in Search Results > No will that then block Google from indexing all the posts in that category too or JUST the category page?

If it does block everything in the category, would you recommend me manually hiding category pages in Advanced > Exclude Pages / Posts? (Ah, just saw you can’t block categories here. Maybe through Robots.txt then just for the folder like:

    Disallow: /categories/categoryname/

    Thanks

    Hey @sdagency,

That setting will only noindex the category pages themselves, not the posts that are assigned to them.

Let us know if you have any other questions!

Awesome. Would be great to add that in a tool tip in that section of the settings. I appreciate the help.

    Hi @sdagency,

    Thanks for your input!

Based on your feedback, I’ve submitted an internal Feature Request for our Development team to review.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks again!
