Support » Fixing WordPress » Adverts – how to fix

  • I run a personal blog at http://www.thedailyjessticle.com and I don’t know if it has anything to do with upgrading my wordpress but for the second time since I began it 4 months ago, I have gone to my site to find viagra and pharmecuitcal supply ads all through my actual posts on every page including on the blog roll.

Why and how is this happening? I have changed my password, installed a bunch of different spam stoppers (askimet, bad behavior, etc) its really annoying because I have to edit each one of my blogs to get rid of them as they are in EVERY SINGLE POST!!! Thats a good 50 or so posts. :/

Can someone let me know how to prevent this?

  • You mean they are posted in comments if so install is plugin that will have security math question before they and submit comment with spam. Block-Spam-By-Math-Reloaded

No they are posted in the actual blog POST. As if someone has hacked in to each individual post and edited the content to put in some kind of link to viagra.

    http://thedailyjessticle.com/?p=362 theres an example.

The only way some one can hack the post is if you have given some one a right to edit posts as I can not see any way some one add ads in posts like they have done in the article.

No not single person has my password except me. My password is very complicated and a bunch of random numbers and letters.

Its also not just my posts as my original post described — its also in the blog roll and other places. There is no way any other person can get my password. It is also not the first time it’s happened.

Then there must be a code in your theme or the plugin that is hacking your website did you try and use twenty ten theme and see if you still have that problem

Can anyone else give me a better solution than installing a default theme in to my wordpress (which wont work as I have an entire site built around my freakin’ wp page)

This is so infuriating as I moved all my crap across from Joomla to use WP…

have you installed any themes or plugins which are not from the official repositories?

is the database password also a complicated one?
