# Advanced permalink issues

 * I want to be able to have the following permalink structure, but can’t seem to
   acheive it after various permutations of fiddling with permalink options, category
   base and hacking about with wp code. Grr.
 * I want:
 * root:
    [http://www.example.com](http://www.example.com)
 * pages:
    [http://www.example.com/a-page/](http://www.example.com/a-page/)
 * categories:
    [http://www.example.com/keyword/a-category](http://www.example.com/keyword/a-category)
 * posts:
    [http://www.example.com/keyword/a-category/a-post](http://www.example.com/keyword/a-category/a-post)
 * One would think putting in a category base of ‘keyword’ would produce the above
   style permalinks, but it doesnt. The best situation I have got is:
    root: [http://www.example.com/](http://www.example.com/)
   pages: [http://www.example.com/a-page/](http://www.example.com/a-page/) categories:
   [http://www.example.com/keyword/a-category/](http://www.example.com/keyword/a-category/)
   posts: [http://www.example.com/a-category/a-post](http://www.example.com/a-category/a-post)
   Which isn’t very clean because it doesnt follow the structure I want (eg I want
   keyword present mainly for SEO reasons).
 * Any help would be greatly appreciated.
