I was about to respond “I got this problem too”, but I see that your “&” directory is browsable.
In short: we can create a directory with an “&” in it, but then cannot access it, getting a pop-up windows stating:
“Unable to open “RoDs & Minutes”.
Folder not found.”
Not sure since when this is a problem, as these type of chars are not used very often. To be clear, in this case “RoDs and Minutes” works fine…

Hi @stxweb and @cyclopaat, update has been released with the fix. Please try to update to latest version 5.2.2.
The update fixed the “&” issue, but not the upload issue. Users can still not upload, getting a “File type not allowed” error, on all files. This is not a settings issue, as all file types are allowed and an admin can upload files.
I have also the file type problem when uploading files using 5.2.2, when I use the Advanced File Manager with shortcuts on a normal page with log in. However using File Manager from Admin panel this works fine.
Any follow up on this would be appreciated – as it stands, the plugin is all but useless.
