In the Advanced Blocking tab, it’s unclear how to block by hostname — can you please update your docs?

I’m not sure I’m doing this right because the number of “blocked hits” for the hostname wildcards is not incrementing and I know there have been a ton of hits from some of these hostnames.

    Here’s what I’ve got set:

IP Range: Allow all IP addresses
    Hostname: *.poneytelecom.eu
    Browser Pattern: Allow all browsers
Source website: Allow visitors arriving from all websites
    Reason:

Am I correct that this will block hits from that hostname, or do I have to deny all IP addresses AND put in a Hostname?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi,
This is the correct way to block requests based on hostname, to make sure this method is working fine, you can block this hostname -temporarily- as a demo:
*.amazonaws.com then go to this website, enter your domain name and click “Go!”, after that you can check the “Live Traffic” feed and you will see the blocked requests there, also you can refresh the Advanced Blocking page to see the counter of blocked hits increased.

Let me know how it goes,
    Thanks.
