adsense slows it down

    I am having trouble getting answers to this issue.
    First I must say no matter an adsense plugin or direct embed same results and makes no difference how many adsense ads there are per page.
    I also must say I deactivated all plugins and just did ADSENSE and NO ADSENSE.
    Makes no difference how many ads. One does the same as three.
    At tools.pingdom.com I get the following results without ADSENSE:

    Requests 67 Load time 1.8 seconds Size 678KB

    With ADSENSE average resluts:

    Requests 850 Load time 5.8 seconds Size 11MEGS

    The waterfall shows an endless stream of .swf and js and adapttv and such, literally hundreds of them. Other webspeed tests show much the same or worse. There seems to be no difference though in Google Pagespeed results.

    Is this usual? Do others using ADSENSE see the same thing at pingdom?
