• I’ve e mailed the author of the google adsense plugin about a problem I’m having installing it but he hasn’t answered & I posted about the problem here in a thread started by the author & received no answer. So here goes:

I installed the plugin, activated it & see the adsense quicktag in the Write toolbar. But when I type in text into the post box & then click “adsense” nothing happens. What is it supposed to do? I expected that it would insert my adsense code. Am I wrong?

  • BTW: Are you sure that using this plugin you are not violating Google TOS? AFAIK Google doesn’t allow inserting normal AdSense code in feeds and this plugin looks like it will also add it to feeds.

yeah, you are better off with something like CG-Inbetween to echo the adsense code between certain posts in the view/archive, rather than embedded into the post itself. You can always the use floats/CSS to ‘position’ the ad into the content block for tight integration on a single-post page.

If you want to look at this, let me know. It’s just a wrappering of the older hacks where you set a counter variable during the loop, and output your code when you hit a certain number (like even N posts). Inbetween lets you specify which posts on the page to show something after (all, specific #, after the last post on page), and the thing to display can be echoed HTML (like adsense, embedded into the plugin’s data storage), a quickphp-style function call, or including a file (which could be something like ‘adsense.html’ if you wanted to put your standard adsense into another file and just include it after the n’th post on the page).

    -d

He’s only using excerpts in his feeds so the Adsense code won’t be included unless that’s the first thing in his post. Even then it wouldn’t be the entire code, just the first 200 characters or whatever…

I place the adsense code at the end of the post, so it shouldn’t get into the feed but thanks for letting me know about the tos. I didn’t know that.
