    Thank you, Lonny.

The large ad I am seeing on the screenshot is a display ad, not an anchor ad.

You should not disable display ads in general since that could have a large impact on your revenue. You might be able to disable that position, though.

Please go back to the page where you disabled the Anchor ads for your site in your AdSense account. On the left, you should find a preview of your site. You can browse a bit there or change the size of the preview until you find that large ad at the top. When you hover over it, you should be able to tell AdSense to not place it.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Hi Thomas. Thank you for clarifying what an anchor ad actually is! Google’s own definition of an anchor ad is not clear at all!

“These ads mainly serve on mobile but can appear on desktop too. Anchor ads appear at the top of the user’s screen unless we determine that this would negatively affect the user experience, in which case we show them at the bottom.”

So I went to my Adsense account and made the change you suggested. But before I could save my changes, I was bounced to a feedback page. When I filled in my comment, I was returned to the page preview screen and lo and behold, the ad was back at the top of the page! Tried it over and over, same result. I will keep trying. How do you not tear your hair out dealing with Adsense? 🙂 Thanks for all your help! Am I able to change my review of Advanced Ads? I am in awe of the job you do!

10 years of experience with cases like this helps a lot 🙂

    Thanks for updating your review!
