    Hi lonnym,

    thanks for reaching out.

The setting in Advanced Ads helps to disable anchor ads located at the top of the page. This is one of the very few options that Auto ads have for plugins. If you are looking for a way to disable anchor ads at the bottom of your page then you can only do that through the Auto ads section in your AdSense account.

Please let me know if I am missing something though.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Hi. I have already checked the disable anchor ads button and I am still seeing anchor ads at the top of my pages. The URL is lmacleod.net.

    Hi Lonny,

    thanks for your feedback.

I am not seeing that anchor ad right now but it is also common for AdSense to not show that placement all the time.

If you only just made the change in your AdSense account then just wait a bit longer. These changes have a natural delay.

You can also remove the Auto ads code completely and start placing AdSense ads manually to get more control over your ads.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Well now the anchor ad at the top of my blog home page is gone. Why I have no idea but all is well! Thanks for your help!

    Hi @lonnym,

I am happy if you found a solution. Auto ads show up only when AdSense sees potential in them so they might just have decided to not show them to you right now, while other users are still seeing them. The Auto ads code is still on your home page and if you didn’t disable them through your AdSense account, might still come back.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Hi again. And now the Anchor ad is back at the top of each page. I am very confused how Adsense anchor ads come and go.

    Hi Ionnym,

I am sorry if that option does not work for you.

The code that is generated by Advanced Ads on your site follows the instructions on https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/7478225?hl=en. It seems like AdSense is ignoring it. If that is the case then there is nothing I can do right now.

Please take a look into your AdSense account and disable Anchor ads there.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Hi.  appreciate your efforts.  Logged on to my blog today, no anchor ads.  Great!  Went back an hour later and there they were, big and ugly! As someone once told me “If that’s your biggest problem, you’ve got it made!”

    Hi lonnym,

I would love to get to the bottom of it. Unfortunately, there seems to be something wrong with AdSense on your site in general. They are even placing empty ad units automatically, which should not happen.

As I said, you could disable anchor ads in your AdSense account and see if that helps.

    Best regards,
    Thomas

Hi Thomas. I am really new at this. I logged into my Adsense account, but I do not see any option to turn off anchor ads. Could you give me a hint? Thanks!

    Hi Lonny,

no problem. The AdSense interface recently changed and so I had to look it up myself:

In your AdSense account, go to Ads > Overview > By Site (should already be selected)

Now, click on the “Edit” button next to the URL in the list at the bottom.

Open “Ad formats” at the right side of the screen and unselect the ad types you don’t want to see on your site.

It takes about 30 minutes until the changes should be in effect on your site.

Let me know how that works out.

Hi Thomas. DARN! I followed your instructions. Anchor ads are already turned off.

    Hi Lonny,

if Anchor ads were disabled before in your account then what you are seeing is either no Anchor ad or from another network or indeed a bug with AdSense.

Could I ask you to share a screenshot of the ad?

    Thanks,
    Thomas

I have a screen shot. Just can’t figure out how to insert it into a message.
