This is a great form builder, until now I would have recommended people using it on any site requiring anything more than a basic contact form.
However 2 seperate client sites have stopped receiving contact forms emails now, and while the entries are stored in the database it was still a MAJOR issue.
Both these clients seem to have clicked on a advertisement inside the plugin for another plugin called ‘Ninja Mail’. The ad says something like ‘your mail might be getting lost, you need a 3rd party mailer, use ours’. It gives you this ad even if you’re connected to another 3rd party mailer. Its free to install and use for ONE WEEK. But there’s NO NOTIFICATION that the free trial period has ended. So clients click on the link and then hijack their own mail.
Forms need to deliver emails. If they don’t do that they are more of a liability than a useful tool.
For a great number of the uses of Ninja Forms, they aren’t delivering hundreds of mails, just a handful. If you’re going to advertise your own mailing service on sites like these, a solution might be to have a free tier (like every other mailing service I’ve ever heard of) and not a short trial period. And definitely notify them if they’ve exceeded their limits.
