The password I recorded for my admin account that will let me edit and post to my blog is not working. I have requested a new one and get an error “The email could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function.” I have contacted AWS (Hosting site) and e-mailed back and forth with Jetpack and WordPress.com. They sent me to the foruims for help. I am NOT a programmer; I caanot edit SQL, and the things I find on Google start with logging in to wp-login.php – which is what I cannot do. Does anyone have a simple step by step process this idiot can follow to get back into my blog, or do I need to dump it and find another software I can figure out how to use? I am beyond frustrated; I have been trying to get this fixed for 24 hours and it took an hour just to figure out how to even ask the question here… Thank you.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi, This plugin has nothing to do with your admin password. My suggestion to get your access back by thru the PHPMyAdmin:

    https://wpcrux.com/blog/change-wordpress-password-phpmyadmin/

The problem with that solution is that I cannot find the CPanel (Control Panel) in my AWS console – even searching for “CPanel” yields no results, other than a way to get a new Key Pair – which as fas as I can tell is a way to access the running instance for the website. Amazon’s solution is to sign up for a support package since they have no idea what is going on and would have to research. Is WordPress really supposed to be this difficult, or is it that I am using AWS as a host?

I am also confused about your statement that “this plugin has nothing to do with your Admin password.” I can’t log into the back office on my WordPress and edit my blog – and as near as I can tell there is a second level password and username needed to do so, that I cannot reset the password for and that will not accept the password I recorded and have used before. I can log into the stats, but I can’t edit or post. Is my WordPress just plain broken?

By the way – this is NOT resolved!!

@scheherazade, You posting an issue in the wrong plugin forum. Your issue is not related with this plugin at all. So TECHNICALLY it is RESOLVED since your issue is not caused by this plugin at all.

@scheherazade, please do me a favor by contacting the AWS support to solve your issue. They are the right persons/team to contact to solve your issue.

OK, so what is the right forum? AWS is not being helpful, and suggested I go to the WordPress.org forums for an answer. I am dizzy from being sent back and forth, and I still can’t get my password reset. Thank you.

I originallly tried to post on WordPress – how did it end up in WooReer?

Your issue suppose an easy fix once the mail() function is enabled. Once that function is enabled, you will be able to send reset password link from the login page. I believe only the hosting provider or sys admin that has root access that able do it. So I doubt if you contacting WordPress.org support will be helpful.

Resolved, thanks to several hours of work by my favorite Airman – the site would not recognize “Root” as a valid user, but he figured it out. Thank you.
