  • Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-running the upgrade manually using /wp-admin/upgrade.php.

I tried renaming my current theme folder to something else but that didn’t work. How do I switch to the Twenty Ten theme using FTP? Thank you!!

By renaming your current theme’s folder. Do you have any caching plugins running? Did you remember to press CTRL and F5 simultaneously when viewing the site? Or try emptying your browser cache?

I already tried renaming the current theme’s folder and that didn’t work. Only plugins are the Maintenance Mode which wasn’t activated and the Askimat.

After reading another post ~I’ve downloaded a fresh version 3.0.4 and uploaded the files to see if I can run the upgrade again. When I try to run http://www.3smartgirlz.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php I just get a blank page.

I’ll try emptying the cache ~and running upgrade.php again. Any other ideas?

    ~Thanks!

That didn’t work either. Another bit of information — with the current Twenty Ten theme activated -the site no longer displays. IF I put my theme folder that was there before the upgrade back -the site will display.

I have no idea what to do next. Your assistance is greatly appreciated!!

I also checked w/Daily Razor -and they reported back that Suhosin is not installed on the server.

the admin panel for my site is still down.

    anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks ~Nancy

Can you try resetting the plugins folder using the PhpMyadmin method. Occasionally, this is the only way to “kill” a really stubborn plugin.

    Hello again 🙂

I appreciate esmi’ help so much –and have looked into the suggestion. I found I do have access to a PhpMyAdmin tool via my hosting domain site. I found the below instructions. I logged into phpMyAdmin and found the area (i think) and got to scared to change anything.

I’ve never done this before and don’t want to make any mistakes. Can you tell me IF I incorrectly change something will I be able to change back? or is everything lost?

    Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

    Instructions found: UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘a:0:{}’ WHERE option_name = ‘active_plugins’;

Yes – you can change it back. But to be on the safe side, it’s always a good idea to back up your database before you make any changes. There’s an option to export a backup of your database on PhpMyAdmin.
