  • if all of the info is there then doing a manual install of the newest version of WordPress while making sure you keep your wp-config.php file untouched might solve the problem. At least that is where i would start.

I just had this ame problem. What I did was backup my databases remove the wp program all together then re installed it. At least for my blog everything that I need was retrieved when I uploaded the new database.

Thanks. Do you know how to download the database to backip or does it depend on my host? Im hosting through Go-Daddy.

There are instructions in the codex for this here http://codex.wordpress.org/Backing_Up_Your_Database

    Hi there Curtis,

Do you think that upgrading would work for a blog that I am currently locked out of?

I don’t know why it’s happened, my blog is still working http://www.digitalang.com/blog but I cannot login to post, mark comments as spam or anything else that needs logging in.

As you can imagine, being locked out is quite a worry!

    Seth.

Yes performing an upgrade or a reinstall could solve your problem. Not for sure but the best place to start in my opinion.

    @sethdickens

    Your are using a vulnerable WordPress version (<meta name=”generator” content=”WordPress 2.5.1″ />)

You need to get into your database and reset your admin info. Then you need to assess why you lost control of your admin account.

Thanks Clayton for the “heads up.”

I’ll get on to this right away and see if I can get to the bottom of why this happened in the first place.

Many thanks again for the warning.

Thanks too Curtis for the upgrade / reinstall advice. I’ll post back here if I have any luck / success to report what happens.

    Seth.

    Thanks again guys.

I completed the upgrade ( and changed my password via php just in case) and I’m now safely back inside my blog. Thank god for that!

Now I’ve just got to figure why that happened in the first place!

    All the best for Xmas.

    Seth.
