Support » Plugin: Admin Menu Editor » admin menu page user rigts conflicts toolbar editor rights

  • Hi,

We have found a user right error with the addon toolbar editor. If a specific page its capability is changed in the menu (example) from user to admin, the toolbar link to that page gives a error.

We removed a page from the menu for users so its only accessible from the toolbar. This combination gives conflicts.

    Kinds regards 🙂

That’s actually the expected behaviour, sort of. In WordPress, the toolbar is just a plain list of links. Unlike the admin menu, it doesn’t have any access settings (aside from some hard-coded checks where WP will only display certain items in the right context).

So what Toolbar Editor actually sees is just a plain URL like, for example, “http://example.com/wp-admin/something.php?foo=bar”. And since there’s often no reliable way to determine if a link is accessible without actually clicking it, the add-on defaults to leaving it visible.
