Im making a site for a client which in which they requested the ability to allow the user of the site to setup their own personal blogs. WP Multisite seemed to be the right choice in this scenario. After much arguing and explaining the issues such as wordpress updates and so forth, they have still insisted on changing the name of the admin control panel from wp-admin to the word console. Fair enough. I search and replaced it in every file of wordpress and renamed the appropriate .css files.
After the name change I am no longer able have NETWORK control. If I am logged in as admin it only allows me admin control of the blog I am the owner. (first blog setup) Would anyone have any idea what exactly is the cause of this? Which network admin specific files I may still need to edit?
I’ve installed a non multisite copy of wordpress on another server for testing purposes where the wp-admin folder name has been renamed and that works fine. Seems the issue is only present with multisite enabled.
